Electric motors consume a large proportion of the total electrical energy generated in an industrial society. With the increasing concern for energy conservation and environmental protection, it is essential to take into account the impact of efficiency when making economic decisions concerning new motor purchase, motor replacement or rewind. In this paper cash flow analysis techniques are applied to such economic decisions and guidelines are presented to help users justify the purchase of premium efficiency motors.
