A three dimension computational fluid dynamic CFD modeling is presented for analysis of hydraulic characteristics of the structured packing dualflow tray SPD-tray and dualflow sieve tray DS-tray with open hole areas of 36.1% versus all previous experimental work. SPD -tray is a novel dualflow tray was found to hve a 44% higher capacity compared with the DS-tray using high liquid density systems. the SPD-tray has a thin slice of koch-glitsch gempac AW7 structured packing . the pressure drop for the counter current flow in a SPD - tray is simulated using an eulerian -eulerian two fluid model . the model is solved by a commercial CFD software CFX11. A good agreement is observed between experimental data and CFD simulation results.
