a dynamic analysis of large river embankment so -called super levee on multilayered soft ground in osaka city, japan is numerically carried out. The liquefaction of sandy layers under dynamic loading conditions is considered in the analysis in addition to large deformations in soft clay layers a three -dimensional finite element program entitled COMVI3D-DY10 is employed for the dynamic analysis which incorporates the cyclic elasto plastic constitutive model for sands ans the cyclic elasto viscoplastic constitutive model for clay laters.
