In this study, the anesthetic effects of ۲-phenoxyethanol (۲-PE, with %۹۹ purity, BASF, Germany) on Munzur trout (Salmo munzuricus., a native species) originated from Munzur stream have been studied. ۳۰۰ fish with the average weight of ۴.۴۲±۰.۶۲ g and length of ۸.۱۰±۰.۶۰ cm were used. To determine the anesthetic effects of various concentrations of ۲-PE on Munzur trout fingerlings, the experiments were performed in two different temperatures (۱۳ ºC and ۱۸ºC) and five different concentrations (۰.۱, ۰.۲, ۰.۳, ۰.۴ and ۰.۵ ml L-۱). ۲-PE was used in this study as an anesthetic agent. In the anesthetic processing we practiced in all concentrations, except for ۰.۱ ml L-۱ of ۲-PE, loss of reflex (S۵) was determined between ۶۸ sec and  ۲۷۶ sec, and total behavioral recovery (R۳) was determined between ۵۸ sec and ۲۰۸ sec. Induction times of anesthesia varied with anesthetic concentrations, decreasing with the increases of ۲-PE concentrations. On the other hand, recovery times increased with decreasing of anesthetic concentrations. The lowest effective dose was determined as ۰.۳ ml L-۱ at the temperatures ۱۳ ºC and ۱۸ºC. In this study, first time optimum anesthetic doses of ۲-PE were determined for fingerling specimens of Salmo munzuricus which is endemic to Munzur stream and has an importance for aquaculture.
