خلاصه مقاله:
An increasing number of transportation accidents involving hazardous substances caused by developing railroads and increasing volume of goods transported on railroads have occurred worldwide. Such accidents with their resultant effects on people and the environment have increased awareness in government, industry and the community at large and resulted in a re-think in the risk assessment process of hazardous substances transportation. The work presented in this paper is implementation of Transportation Risk Analysis (TRA) on rail transportation of dangerous materials using geographic information systems (GIS) to manage territorial information. This work results a risk evaluation tool that is used for Route Characterization and Exposure of environmental characteristics to hazardous materials. In the case of each field a special methodology for risk assessment is discussed. In Route Characterization three methodologies are discussed on which the main method is concentrated but for Exposure field just one method is prepared. The purpose of introducing this tool and its methodologies is to help to identify sensitive areas, risk factor and reduction in accident rate, effects on environment and cost. In other words, special techniques are going to be used in order to raise the level of safety particularly in the worst or critical case.
