The term NGN is commonly used to give a name to the changes to the service provision infrastructures thathave already started in the telecom and IT industry that support a variety of communication services (data,video, and voice) seamlessly. Next-generation network (NGN) is a new concept and becoming more and moreimportant for future telecommunication networks. This paper illustrates five function layers of NGNarchitecture and discusses some end-to-end QoS (quality of service) issues for NGN (called NGN QoS). Thefive function layers are: Application Layer; Network Control Layer; Adaptation Layer; Network TransmissionLayer and Management Layer that provides Web-based GUI browser for data presentation, monitoring,modification and decision making in NGN.
