چکیده مقاله:

This paper is an attempt to identify the crack depth and location in cracked cantilever beam by the first three natural frequencies and using genetic algorithm. Detection is performed in two case frequencies, numerical and experimental frequency data. In the first case, an arbitrary depth and location for a crack were assumed and then frequencies were obtained from the numerical solution of frequency equation. Inversion of this case can be considered as a problem for identifying cracks. Identifications was carried out with a very high accuracy. In the second case, the experimental frequencies were given as inputs to genetic algorithm and then the genetic algorithm was run, and the resulted detection was not performed correctly. It will be shown that a negligible error in the measured frequencies is a symptom of incorrect detection. In the other words, there may be two different cracks that produce the same frequencies with certain accuracy
