Continuous improvement of tire quality in the areas of better fuel economy, improved safety and increased durability requires development of new tire compounds, particularlytread compounds. These requirements can only be met by improvements in rolling resistance, skid resistance, especiallyin wet conditions, and wear resistance, which are closely related to hysteresis, wet friction behaviour and abrasion of tread compounds [1].
