Recently, nanometer sized particles have been used in suspensions of conventional heat transfer fluids to enhance the heat transfer performance. The fluids with nanoparticles suspended in them are called "nanofluids". This review paper covers the published experimental studies on forced convective heat transfer characteristics of nanofluids. Investigations emphasize on the enhancement of heat transfer using suspensions of metallic or nonmetallic nanomaterials.
