خلاصه مقاله:
Al-B4C surface nanocomposite layers was achieved on commercial 7075Al substrate employing friction stir processing technique. The resulting composites were tested for their tribological behavior. The microstructure of the nano-composite layer is found to be finer than those of the matrix alloy. Additionally, the distribu of B4C particles in the matrix alloy is found to be more uniform in the nano-composite layer. The wear resistance is observed to be superior in the case of nano-composite layer compared to the matrix alloy. It is also observed that the wear resistance of nano-composite layer increased when B4C nano particles were added. Wear resistance of the developed composites is highly affected by dispersion and agglomeration of B4C particles while dispersion of B4C particles was found to be dependant on the number of FSP passes.
