Cadmium oxide film is synthesized by solvothermal method on glass substrate. This method is based on simple low temperature solvothermal technique that requires less chemicals and monitoring. The film is uniform, crack free and present good adherence. Post-deposition annealing at 350°C for 1 hour produced pure phase CdO film, as confirmed from X-ray diffractogram, TGA-DTA and FTIR. The morphology and grain size of the annealed film charactraized by SEM and X-ray revealed that the film consisted of nanoparticle with grain size of about 30-100 nm. Optical study shows 40-50% transparency with a band gap value about 3.6 ev
