A Versatile and Regioselective method for Synthesis of vicinal Azidoalcohols via Azidolysis of Epoxides by Using Cross-linked Poly 4-vinylpyridine Supported Azide Ion under Solvent-Free Conditions

Polymer supported heterogeneous reagents and catalysts are becoming popular in organic transformations since they offer advantages such as easy work up, and recyclability.Cross-linked poly )4-vinylpyridine( supported azide ion, is used as an efficient polymeric reagent for synthesis of ß-azidoalcohols in the presence of cross-linked poly )4-vinylpyridine( supported sulfuric acid, [P4-VP]H2SO4, as a solid proton source and as catalyst under solvent-free conditions. The reactions take place very fast under solvent-free conditions and the regioselective ß-azidoalcohols are prepared in high yields at 65 °C. The spent polymeric reagent is removed by a simple filtration and is regenerated and reused for several times without losing its activity.
