Evaluating of multi-degree-of-freedom steel structure response in uncertainties space of elastic behavior range

Existing of Uncertainties (Aleatory and Epistemic) in each process of analysis and evaluating of seismic behavior causes receding of real response. One of the experimental methods for resolving this issue is probabilistic analysis and structure behavior simulation. In this study, linear dynamical analysis is carried out in probabilistic area for three types of shear-type building, with 3, 6 and 10 stories. For this purpose, we studied effect of three kinds of uncertainties including mass, damping and stiffness in structure behavior using Monte Carlo Simulation Method. This simulation is executed with three different kinds of Probability Density Function (PDF) and three different values of Coefficient of Variation (C.O.V(. Analysis were carried out using MATLAB and results derived from Probabilistic area were compared using deterministic method. Results showed that probability of maximum exceed of stories in three buildings in probabilistic area is 50% of probability of maximum exceed of stories in three buildings in deterministic condition.
