Abstract:

On record, data on lakes and reservoirs are critical to the understanding of the global hydrological cycle and information and their freeze and break-up dates is useful in the evaluation of climate change and it has been linked to agriculture. The Nigerian major ecological zones based rainfall amount using normal of 1971 to 2000 with a based period of 2010 have been experiencing impacts resulting to massive flooding and erosion. The tropics play a critical role in the Earth system. Climate change in the tropic, both natural and anthropogenic, has the potential to alter: agricultural food chains etc, especially in the different agro-ecological zones in Nigeria
