Abstract:

Present work is a case study of rainwater harvesting needs and the measures being adopted for western part of Rajasthan in Churu District. The district is characterized by undulating sand dunes. Rainfall is very low and erratic. The depth of ground water ranges between 30 mts. to 110 mts. The district is facing with ground water problem. The present exploitation status has affected the quality factor adversely and the quality of ground water is deteriorated day by day in the entire district. Storage of rainwater in each and every building coming up should be made compulsory. The community participation in maintaining the Kund is must. The demand of water consideration should be based on I.S recommendation. The kund for Individual family should of 20,000 litre or 22,000 litre for fulfilling the demand of water for the whole year. The storage tank of the Kund should be constructed at the one end require of paitan for drinking water purpose. Objective of the study is that these recharge structures will serve as kund for fulfilling drinking water requirements of a family
