Background and Aim: Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women. The aim ofthis study was to determine the distribution of breast cancer risk factors and its effect on theperceived threat and use of breast cancer screening methods.Methods: In this cross-sectional study, 350 women over 40 years of age were selected using cluster sampling. Demographic data, risk factors for breast cancer and use of breast cancer screening methods were recorded. Data were analyzed by SPSS software.Results: The frequencies of clinical examination and regular mammography were 57.7%and 57.4% respectively. Frequency of regular clinical examination and mammography hadsignificant differences based on the family history of breast cancer, benign breast disease(P<0.05). The mean perceived sensitivity and severity was significant based on the familyhistory of breast cancer, benign breast disease (P<0.05). In addition, the mean perceivedseverity and sensitivity were significantly different in the terms of mammography andclinical examination.Conclusion: Family history of breast cancer and benign breast disease are risk factors affecting perceived threats, regular mammography and clinical examination in this study
