چکیده مقاله:

Introduction: Traditional herbal medicines (THM) are known as accessible, safe, and low-cost option in management and care of dyslipidemia. We conduct a bibliometric analysis of global scientific productions in field of THM and dyslipidemia in Middle East countries.Materials & Methods: Some of our search terms were dyslipidemia , herb , traditional medicine in Scopus web database, limited in English language and conducted in Middle East countries until 02 October 2019. We analyzed data of publication year, main journal, geographical distribution, documents’ type, subject area, and h-index of citations by Scopus analysis tools, and SPSS version 15.Results: Among 3650 global publications, most of the papers (> 90%) were original articles. A significant time-trend was shown in the number of papers (P<0.001) with the highest number in 2016. More than 80% of subject areas were in medicine and pharmacology. Top three countries in global publication number were Iran, Egypt, and Turkey, respectively with 1305, 1115, and 762 papers. The documents were cited totally 67069 times with average citation/article 18.38, and h-index 101.The highest cited paper (788 times) was an original article from Turkey. The first three top sources were Phytotherapy Research , Biomedicine and Pharmacotherapy , and Pharmaceutical Biology . Among key words , the highest rates were observed for lipid peroxidation , oxidative stress , and antioxidant activity , respectively. Top institutes were from Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and Iran. Conclusion: Time-trend growth in producing scholarly papers for management of dyslipidemia by THM especially by antioxidative herbals would be helpful for researchers to conduct better researches and for policy makers to arrive at evidence-based decisions.
