چکیده مقاله:

Background and Aim: Resilience is a conceptual construct that will increase the capacity of children against disasters and emergencies. The concept of resilience in different cultures is different. The tools for assessing resilience are rarely specific to children and none have been designed for disaster situations. The present study was then designed with the goal of designing and psychometric the resilience of children in disasters.Method: The present study was a sequential exploratory mixed method. This study was conducted in six phases. In the systematic phase, 28 related articles out of 1838 records were extracted. In the qualitative phase of the study, a content analysis with a conventional approach was employed. In this phase 23 in-depth interviews with participants from different fields in disaster management, psychology, and children performed. In addition, three focus group discussions were held between experts from organizations who were responsible for health, education, politics, and NGO in the field of children. Then, the item reductions and the psychometric of the tool were performed, including face validity, content and construct validity, and reliability. Then, in a sixth phase, a cross-sectional study was conducted to test the tool developed in 2017.Results: The psychometric evaluation of the CYRM-12 Resilience Tool for children and adolescents showed a good fit for Iranian children and adolescents, which was a good and reliable one. The Cronbach’s alpha was.7 and ICC was.88. In the qualitative phase, two main groups and six themes were extracted. Pool items were designed based on the components of the systematic review phase and qualitative study. 88 items were extracted based on the results of this phase. After completing face to face validity, 68 items remained. In a PCA exploratory analysis, an eight factor structure for the questionnaire was developed that included 31 questions with a 52% variance explanation. These eight factors included helping , creativity and dynamism , trust in God , learning passion , adaptability , acceptance of social responsibility , hope, and self-confidence . Cronbach’s alpha for the eight factors was 0.86. In-cluster correlation coefficient of ICC between test and re-test was 0.91.Conclusion: The results indicated that a 31-item questionnaire on children’s resilience in disasters was a questionnaire with validity and reliability that can be used for the age group of 1318- years old. Instead of addressing natural conditions, the questionnaire emphasizes on the risk of children at risk in terms of flood scenarios and emphasizes capacity and resilience of children. It should be noted that this questionnaire is applicable to assessing the degree of resilience before and after disasters.
