چکیده مقاله:

Introduction: Using saliva for disease diagnostics and health surveillance is a promising approach ascollecting saliva is relatively easy and non-invasive.Most cases of OSCC are not detected until thecancer has developed into advanced stages. This review article provides an up-to-date list ofpotentialOSCC salivary biomarkers reported. Materials and Methods: This literature review was performing by searching electronic databasesincluding: Medline (PubMed), Web of Science and SCOPUS for all journals in the field of application ofmolecular diagnosis inOSCC published until of 2018. Results: Although the fact that more than 100 potential OSCC salivary biomarkers have been reported, there has been no standardization regarding the condition of the subjects from whom the salivasamples are collected. This literature review presents an overview of the status of current advances insalivary diagnostics for OSCC. Though many protein and mRNA salivary biomarkers have been identifiedthat can detect OSCC with high sensitivity and specificity, the most discern able findings occur with theuse of multiple markers. Studies that incorporate proteomic (IL-1V, IL-1W, IL-6, IL-8, TNF-V, VEGF-A),transcriptomic (The RNA biomarkers included IL-8, IL- 1W, DUSP1, OAZ1, SAT1, S100P, MMP-1, MMP9),microbiomics(Peptostreptococcus stomatis, Streptococcus gordonii, HPV), methylomics (promotermethylation of genes in saliva may serve as potential biomarkers for the early detection of OSCC),metabolomics (Metabolomics is a measure of all intracellular metabolites and is a potent tool forunderstanding cellular function) need to be initiated to bring technology to clinical applications andallow the best use of saliva in diagnosing OSCC. Discussion: This review article may help to identify the potential biomarkers for screening and themolecular pathology analysis for high-riskpatients of OSCC
