چکیده مقاله:

The organizational behavior scholarship on political skill has convergence on the point that it is a social savvy, personal style construct associated with positive personal and organizational outcomes. Its importance for effective survival in organizational life is well documented in large body of organizational behavior research. This study, however, takes a counterintuitive view and aims to highlight the dark side of this construct which is an under researched area in this domain. It conceptualizes that despite being a positive interpersonal resource, political skill, due to its self-serving attributes and influential power, can potentially be used in dysfunctional outcomes in form of counterproductive work behavior. Taking insights from Approach and Inhibition Theory of power, this study adds significantly to the body of knowledge by presenting a conceptual framework elucidating the dysfunctional aspect of political skill with testable propositions.
