چکیده مقاله:

New computational tools and techniques of modeling Islamic geometric patterns have empowered us to design, calculate and use manufacturing systems the way it was impossible for the past designers. For over a millennium, Islamic architects and industrialists have developed extraordinary skills to design amazing forms of decoration. The growth of the tourism industry in many Arab destinations ranging from Morocco to the Persian Gulf countries, and the unparalleled expansion of the real estate industry in the region, has renewed the world s interest in Islamic architecture and Islamic interior design Islamic ornaments are one of the most obvious visual effects of Islamic art and culture, which the astonishments and amazements in them are not the result of a coincidence. Girih are very complex Islamic decorative geometric patterns that intertwine and cover a surface. Each girih has a specific hidden logic and geometry behind it. In the last century, we have developed tools that let analyze geometrical sources of ornaments with unprecedented clarity. In this paper we study Islamic patterns by modeling those using programming tools such as grasshopper and Python. Patterns have been modeled with different ways and their expansion, transformation and deformation techniques such as changing contact angles , reparametrizing base geometry or creating an attract point to design new patterns have been studied. A classification of different types of modeling techniques for an Islamic pattern, various methods of reparameterizing them; as well as creating altered patterns by using other geometric algorithms (such as metaball and vornoi ) was achieved.
