Pathological defects due to mustard gas are completely recognized. Respiratory passages aremain and major paths via this gas meters throughout the body. As following in studied twodifferent studies, the value of sputum cytology in discovering early bronckogenic cancers andare equal or may be more valuable than x-ray. Also sputum cytology is easiest and mostsimple diagnostic way for surveying the respiratory passage pathologic defects due tomustard gas. Therefore three days continuous sputum cytology study with chemical victimsand injured war patients have been surveyed. These patients remained in the vicinity ofmustard gas environment five years before. We opted to study and survey these cases todetect the types and cellular lesions among respiratory passages. This prospective study of100 chemical mustard gas victims who remain in vicinity of this gas five years before. Thepatients have presented in chest clinics or centers. Their main complain was respiratorydisturbance. This study consists of three continuous sputum cytology, in 100 cases whoreferred in chest clinics. Smears prepared in pap smear stain and cases admitted anddiagnosed, Macrophage lacking cases were canceled for test. 87% were males of ages 20-35years. Most dominantly symptom was productive cough in 97% of cases, with most dominantsign wheezing in 50% cases. Clinical findings predominantly are symptoms, and 80% casesappear as burning and vision disturbances. In x-ray studies mostly chronic bronchitis andsinusitis have been revealed in 41-49% patients. PET in 53% of patients was distinctlyabnormal with 48% cases showing slight to severe respiratory way obstruction. In this studyshowed metaplasi 100%, mild dysplasia 12%, moderate dysplasia10%, very severe dysplasia1%.
