چکیده مقاله:

IntroductionIt is well established that electromagnetic fields (EMFs) stimulate important biologicalprocesses In contrast to the fields that have been widely used in clinical practice, thosenormally met with the population have much lower magnitude and frequency, going up frompower distribution systems in which the frequencies generated are 50 Hz. the present studywas designed to evaluate the influence of long-term exposure to ELFEMF on the structure ofpancreas in rats.Materials and methods:Fortyfive rats in 3 groups include: group 1 or control group were kept in normal conditions ofanimal room, group 2 or exposed for 135 days and under 50 Hz, 1 mT (emitted fromsolenoid) for 24 h daily, and group 3 or sham group were kept in conditions similar to thegroup 2 except in off solenoid. The pancreas was examined using light microscopy.Results:In EMF exposed group increased size of pancreatic islets was detected associated withmarked vascular cogestion(P<0.001).Conclusion:Long term exposure to EMF influences the histopathologic structure of pancreas.
