Absence of FLT3 Mutations in Iranian Adult T-cell leukemia/lymphoma Patients

Adult T cell leukemia lymphoma (ATLL) is typically preceded by decades of clinical latencyduring which infected cell accumulates selectable traits leading to malignant transformation.FMS like tyrosine kinase 3 mutations are among the most frequent molecular aberrations inpatients with leukemia. In this study 38 patients of ATLL were retrospectively analyzed fordetection of FLT3- ITD and FLT3-TKD mutations. No FLT3 mutations were detected. Weconclude that although FLT3 mutations are unusual in ATLL patients but other alternativemechanisms associated with ATLL remain to be further investigated. This study was a novelproject regarding the analysis FLT3 mutation in the field of ATLL research.
