چکیده مقاله:

Introduction : Osseous metaplasia is defined by the prescence of heterotopic normal bone tissue in a soft tissue ,in both neoplastic and non neoplastic conditions. It is rarely seen in various types of polyps of the stomach ,colon and rectum.Less than ten cases of osseous metaplasia in colonic juvenile polyps are reported so far. Case report:We are reporting a very rare case of juvenile (retention)polyp in rectum with osseous metaplasia in a 8-year-old boy with chief complaints of a mass protruding out of the anus with bloody stool for the last six months.Size of the polyp is about 2x1.5x1.5cm. Discussion and conclusion: The pathogenesis of osseous metaplasia in gastro intestinal tract polyps is unclear and may be the result of a metaplastic transformation of the fibroblasts to osteoblasts. Osseous metaplasia ,clinically and prognostically is not important and in most of times ,it is an incidental finding. Now we presented this case as a very rare finding in juvenile rectal polyps.
