چکیده مقاله:

Introduction: Signet Ring Cells (SRCs) are often seen in gastric, colon, intestine, breast, bile duct, and lung carcinomas. There is scientific evidence that the presence of SRCs in these neoplasms have a pattern of specific signatures, and may be associated with a poor prognosis and response to treatment. Gastric adenocarcinoma is fourth most common malignancy worldwide. In this review we look into the prevalence, risk factor, and prognosis of gastric SRC.Materials and Methods: This study is a systematic review article by surveying articles of databases and credible scientific websites include Science Direct, PubMed, scopus, and with keywords was gastric , tumor , carcinoma , prevalence , prognosis and signet ring cells conducted during 2000 – 2018.Results: Viewing SRCs in the gastric adenocarcinoma is not very common. Although the SRC adenocarcinoma has a low incidence, remained an independent prognostic factor associated with worse survival. SC diagnosed in more advanced tumor stages and variable associated with lower mortality risk included Asian race and surgery. SRC is associated with higher rates of peritoneal carcinomatosis and lymph node involvement at diagnosis, lower resection rate, and earlier tumor relapse. Conclusion: SRC histology is an independent predictor of poor prognosis in gastric adenocarcinoma. Therefore our results suggest the need for a specific therapeutic strategy for such tumors. Understanding the pathogenenis of gastric SRC carcinomatosis is critical in the treatment and improving the prognosis of patients. Further studies are required to determine the exact prevalence of these tumors contain SRCs.
