چکیده مقاله:

Purpose: Comparison the success and recurrence rate of surgery, plaque radiotherapy and local chemotherapy with Interferon alpha-2b in management of ocular surface squamous neoplasia Methods: This descriptive study was carried out in a retrospective cross-sectional fashion. The target population is all the patients referred to the Rassoul Akram Hospital with ocular surface squamous neoplasia between 1392- 1395. Data collection was done by studying hospital documents and completing a questionnaire for each patient. Results: Fifty patients with an average age of 58.40±21.32 years were enrolled in this study, there were 34 male and 16 female. 13 patients had surgery, 14 patients had Plaque Radiotherapy +Mitomycin, 15 had topical injection of interferon and 8 had used Interferon drop. 31 patients had risk factors and 16 patients had no risk factors. In the pathological study of tumors, 22 cases of SCC, 21 cases of CIN and 7 cases of dysplasia have been reported. The size of the tumors was at an average size of 20.99±17.89 mm2. Mean follow up was 12.4 (range 3-60) months. Success rate was 84.6%, 85.79%,93.3% and,87.5% in surgery, plaque radiotherapy plus Mitomycin, subconjunctival injection of Interferon alpha-2b and topical drop of Interferon alpha-2b,respectively (p=0.88). Recurrence rate was 15.4%,21.4%,6.7% and 12.5% in surgery, plaque radiotherapy plus Mitomycin, subconjunctival injection of Interferon alpha-2b and topical drop of Interferon alpha-2b, respectively ( p=0.432). Conclusion: The success rate of the treatments was not significantly different and the choice of a single treatment method for all patients with the highest success rate, minimal complications and the lowest rate of relapse was not feasible. Also, a comprehensive database for patients diagnosed with ocular tumors will be effective in facilitating and enhancing the accuracy of future studies.
