چکیده مقاله:

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to determined complications of ocular and systemic intravitreal injection of Avastin Methods: In a semi-experimental study by the type before and after, 106 patients who have the indication of Avastin injection due to retinal diseases undervent to avastin intravitreal injection. Thereafter, one week, onemonth, three months and six months after injection were evaluated from the viewpoint of Avastin side effects. After completing the questioners, the data files were compiled in the SPSS software version 16. The X 2 test, t independent test and the Wilcoxon test at α ≤ 0.05 level was performed. Results: The minimum age of 106 participants was 23 years and the maximum age was 85 years old and means age was 62.96±9.47 years old. The average Visual acuity before injection was 1.04±0.93, and after one week1.13±0.94, six months of injection was 0.82±1.01. The systemic complications of Avastin increase significantly after one month and reach the highest level within 3 to 6 months of injection, the relative frequency of systemic complications also in female patients versus male patients was significantly higher (P=0.03). Conclusion: The most common ocular and systemic events in this study were inflammation and hypertension, respectively. Furthermore, visual acuity improved during the first month after injection, but afterwards it decreased significantly, which is probably due to the need for repeated injections of Avastin.
