Assessment of farmers participation in the pattern of the insurance of agriculture crops in hot and dry areas

Agriculture is a risky activity. In this activity, a variety of natural, social and economical hazards have joined hands together and provided a fragile collection to producers. Supporting agricultural producers against income fluctuations plays an important role in increasing the motivation and production. Governments design policies and programs to support the producers of this sector that the crop insurance is one of them. The crops insurance supports the crop against damage to farmer and prevents fluctuations in farmers income. In this study, the farmers participation in the program of the insurance of agriculture crops has been investigated. For this purpose, using positive mathematical programming, the behavior of farmers to participate in agricultural insurance scheme and assess the consequences of the partnership was investigated. Results showed their support until the government reduces the premium support by 50 percent, a group of farmers participate in the program. The results also showed that increasing the premium or reducing government support for premium has a very negative impact on the crops cultivation and the gross margin of farms
