چکیده مقاله:

Introduction: Chronic obstractive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) is a chronic pulmonary inflammation with several symptoms, including dyspnea, cough and sputum. Thedisease has a global distribution and significant mortality. Cardiovascular diseases (CVD) are the main causes of mortality in COPD patients. This study was carried out to evaluate left ventricular diastolic dysfunction (LVDD) in patients with COPD in Masih Daneshvari Hospital. Materials and Methods: In this study, 58patients under 65 years of age with COPD (By determining the severity) were as the case group and57 patients with normal spirometry and without pulmonary or cardiac disease as control group. They referred to the cardiologist for echocardiography . Patients were tested for C-reactive protein (CRP) and N-terminal pro-B-type natriuretic peptides (NT-pro BNP).CollectedData was investigated and analyzed by SPSS for descriptive reports of the relationship between variables. Results: The results showed that LVDD was significantly higher in copd patients(60%) than control group(12.2%). Based on this study there is no significant relationship between LVDD and BMI in copd patients.Evaluation of CRP and PRO-BNPshowed the distribution of patients in different diastolic function classes is similar. Considering (P =0.101), it has been observed that with increasing COPD severity, LVDD severity also increases. There is a direct relation between TLC and LVDD (P<0.00). In COPD patients, there was a significant relationship between diastolic function and SPAP (P<0.00). Conclusion: In general, it should be noted that the prevalence of LVDD in patients with COPD is significantly higher than other people.
