چکیده مقاله:

Background and Objective: Newborns should be evaluated immediately by a conventional method. Apgar system is an acceptable method for the evaluation of neonates. In this study, we compare the first and fifth minute of Apgar scores in the two groups of infants with normal birth weight and high birth weight look in Maragheh Shahid Beheshti hospital. Materials and Methods: This is a cross sectional study was conducted on two groups of infants born with normal birth weight and high birth weight. The mothers with respiratory disease, heart disease and diabetes, pregnancy complication and premature babies were excluded. In one group infants more than four kg birth weight and in the second group of infants with birth weights between 2.63 kg to 3.85 kg were used. Sampling method was simple random method with using of archival records in 2016-2017 was performed. Data were analyzed with using of SPSS 21 software and statistically analyzed by Kruskal-W-allis test was used. Findings: A total of 210 newborns (105 infants with a normal weight and 105 infant’s overweight) were recruited. The mean birth weight of 4.32±0.18 kg in the infants born with high birth weight and the mean birth weight of infants born with normal birth weight was 3.08±0.24 kg. Mean Apgar scores in the first minute were equal to 8.40±0.79 and 9.34±0.63, respectively. Apgar scores in fifth minute in the groups respectively were equal to 9.69±0.46 and 9.76±0.43. The data analyzed by Kruskal-Wallis one-minute Apgar relationship between birth weight were significantly meaningful (P=0.015) However, the association between birth weight and Apgar score five minutes, was not significant (P=0.262). Conclusion: The results showed that the first minute Apgar score in the infants with overweight had significantly low than normal birth weight infants. Therefore likely to require cardiopulmonary resuscitation in infants with over weight. Because the weight is also influenced by his mother s BMI, It is recommended that the monitoring of nutritional status of pregnant mothers to control their weight before pregnancy decided to take action.
