Evaluation the knowledge, attitude and practice of Bandar Abbas dentist’s on oral cancer in 2017

Background and Objective: One of the most common ends in the world is death in the world of oral cancer. Given that dentists information about oral cancer and how they function in dealing with suspected malignant lesions causes patients to be quickly identified and, as a result of their timely treatment, this study is aimed at analyzing the knowledge, attitude and practice of dentists the city of bandarabas has been diagnosed with oral cancer. Materials and Methods: This is a cross-sectional descriptive study that was conducted in the mid-92s on all general dentists in bandarabas who worked at the office. 90 dentistry were involved in the study, including 56 (62/2%) males and 34 (37/8) women with an average age of 29/7 to 36/33 years. The average free time from education was 41/6 to 10/22 years. First, a questionnaire was completed in four sections (the first part included demographic data, the second part included 11 questions related to oral cancer, the third part consisted of 4 questions of attitude and the fourth part with 3 questions of practice) and the dentists in the presence of the questioner answered the questions Data were analyzed by SPSS software using ANOVA, Chi-square and T-test. Findings: Mean score of knowledge in male dentists was 2/20 to 6/84 and in female dentists, 1/99 to 7/9. Knowledge score was 65/5% of dentists between 4 and 4. With the increase of past time from the last research on oral cancer, dentists knowledge was reduced (p = 43%). 90% of dentists believed that oral cancer was the first place of manthas . But 30% of them were the most common pre-cancerous lesions and 37/8% did not know the place that had the most likely malignancy in the pre-cancerous lesion. Conclusion:The results of this study showed that the awareness, attitude and practice of the general dentists in the city of bandarabas in relation to oral cancer is not enough and, therefore, this requires continuous training in this field.
