Effective F actors of Presence in Theoretical Classes from the Perspective of Dental Students

Background: One of the most important educational concerns in recent years is the presence of effective students in theoretical courses. The present study aims to identify the faculty, student and physical environment of the students in the theoretical classrooms from the viewpoints of dental students of Guilan University of Medical Sciences in 2017. Methods: This cross-sectional descriptive-analytic study was conducted on 112 dental students of Guilan University of Medical Sciences who were selected by census method. The data collection tool was a two-part questionnaire consisting of demographic information and the second part of the standard questionnaire of the effective factors of the students in the classroom(Fasihi Harandi etal). The questionnaire was completed by students The questionnaire was completed by students by self-declaration. Then, the information was entered into SPSS 21 software and the data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and inferential statistics (independent t-test and ANOVA) at a significant level (p <0.05). Results: The mean age of the samples was 22.7 ± 2.01. 55.4% (62) of male students and 55 (49.1%) were native. Master s proficiency was the highest average score on the amount of textbook, proper teaching method, interest in the subject and the use of the materials presented on the patient s side. Among the factors affecting the attendance in the theoretical class, the highest average score was in the student s field. There was a significant relationship between the students academic year and the subject s field (p <0.05). Conclusion: The results of this study showed that academic mastery, teaching method and students interests are effective factors for students in theoretical courses and play an important role in the success of the process of information transfer and promotion of education for learners.
