THE DOMINO EFFECT OF FATIGUE ON AIR TRAFFIC (IONTROLLERS' PERFORMANCE AND AC~CORDIWGLY ON AIR SAFETY

In this pTrper, i.he c'Damino Effect" of "Fatigue" on Air Truflc Controllers' perforn~ance 2nd also on air safety is discussed. Fatigue definitely reducesuttention spait and conceatration as well as adversely affects Short Term ,+fewtory (STA4) and Long Term ,Memory (Li?'',so that with the affected STM and LTM, it would be actually diff~cultf or the controller(s) to inake appropriate and the best possible mental picture(s) of a given air traffic in a given airspace to provide air traffic service. Also, with unfa,vordbly affected memory, controllers may lose their mental pictures either partially or wholly. Moreover, they accelerate controllers to oonmit Slips of the tongue, Slips of the hand, Slips of the ear, Slips of the eye, and Slips of the mind. These slips interfere with the processing of the data; as a result, different classes of error are undelihrately committed, which may lead to aircraft proximity mcl accident accordingly. Then, the domino effect of aircraft proximities and likely accidents are briefly discussed, and finally, some proposals are put forward in order for the concerned authorities to nullie the domino ef Fect of fatigue.
