Analysis the effective factors of using Renewable Energy in desert areas

In this paper two renewable energy options (Wind energy and solar energy) are explored for electricity generation as powerhouses in deserts. Definitely, it can be wealthy opportunity to consume wind power and solar irradiation in these areas. This study has established the criteria and effective factors on usage of renewable energy in deserts. Criteria contain climate-environmental, economic, technological and socio-political participation and total of eighteen factors have been evaluated by using the analytical hierarchy process (AHP) method. Regarding the weights estimation results, economic feasibility is the most important criterion with six factors. According to the geographical features ,one of the suitable areas for studying this criteria ,is the central district of Garmsar in Semnan –Iran which is the case study of this paper.
