Molecular Identification of Pasteurella multocida Isolates Collected from ovian by PCR

Pasteurella multocida is a gram-negative bacteria of veterinary importance which has divided into 16 somatic or lipopolysaccharide (LPS) serovars using an agar gel diffusion precipitation test. In this study LPS PCR typing method is used for molecular typing the LPS1-8 genotypes of pasteurella multocida isolated from poultry in Iran.Pasteurella m ultocida was cultured on BHI medium and strains were identified by biochemical tests. Ge-nomic DNA was extracted by boiling method and PCR was applied for each of the eight genes .All the isolates were typed using the LPS PCR typing . 60% of isolates contained LPS1, 13.4% LPS2, 16.6% LPS3 and 10% of isolates contained more than one gene and no other genotypes were detected in isolates. LPS PCR typing is a suit-able typing system for differentiating between Pasteurellamultocida genotypes and it is preferable to Heddleston serotyping
