چکیده مقاله:

The aim of the present work was to assess the effect of different concentration eggplant peel (Solanum melongena) extract (SM) on the viability after cryopreservation of ram spermatozoa with the cryopreservation processes. Five farahani rams (2–3 years old) were used. The animals were of general health status. The semen was collected from the rams by an artificial vagina .Pooled semen was composed of Tris-based extender, egg yolk, and glycerol in control and extract supplemented (Hydroalcoholic extracts) freeze-dried extender which was containing one of the following extracts: 0.2 (mg/ml), 0.4, 0.6 and 0.8 that is containing the composition, reactive antioxidant including Nasunin (anthocyanin, a purple pigment belonging to the family of flavonoids) for protection sperm and control group without any extract. Semen samples were assessed for sperm viability. Results showed that Better sperm viability was observed in 0.2 mg/ml extract and was significantly higher up to after frozen-thawed than other groups (P<0.05). This study showed that SM supplementation in semen extenders can improve the viability characteristic after thawing ram semen.
