چکیده مقاله:

Cervical cancer is the common sixth cancer among the all types of cancer and second one among the women which results from the growing and irregular growth of the epithelial cells of the cervix and the continuous loss of cells. Using of medicinal plants in traditional medicine has long been used in many countries like Iran, and today using of medicinal plants is increasing in the treatment of various diseases due to better physiological compatibility with the body and having fewer side effects. This study did with the purpose of a survey of the anticancer effect of hydroalcoholic extract of the overhead organ of Acorus Calamus on cervical cancer cell line, Hela cells. In this experimental study after cultivation and proliferation of cells derived from epithelial tissue of the human womb, the cells were adjacent to different doses ( c+, 31.25, 62.5, 125, 250, 500, 1000, 2000) of hydroalcoholic extract of Acorus Calamus and incubated for 24,48 and 72 hours. Using the test of MTT after the end of the incubation period to control growth inhibition light absorbance of colored dilution at a wavelength, 570 nm was determined by AI. Data were analyzed by ANOVA test. The results of the MTT assay showed that this extract has the concentration-dependent and time-dependent anticancer effect on Hela cells, the highest percentage of cell death was observed with increasing concentrations of extract and incubation in 72 hours. But, in 48-hour incubation, cell growth was observed at concentrations of 31.25 and 62.5. The extract of the overhead organ of Acorus Calamus with concentration and time-dependent effect on Hela cancer cells can cause inhibition of the growth of these cells.
