Investigating the Scattering of Stomach Cancer in Iran

Introduction & Aim: During various studies, it has been proven that environmental factors play a significant role in the incidence of cancer. Therefore, the study of the environmental dispersion of the disease is also important for planning and designing strategies for the prevention of gastric cancer. Methods: In this review study, statistics related to gastric cancer were extracted from the database of the Iranian Statistical Center and official reports provided by the Ministry of Health between 2000 and 2006 and studied completely. Results: According to studies done in our country, the highest incidence of gastric cancer is in Ardabil, northern and Kurdistan provinces respectively and at least in Hormozgan province and the proportion of dispersion in villages is twice of cities. According to library and documentation studies in Gilan province, the geographical distribution of gastric cancer was consistent with the soil containing molybdenum. In the province of Ardabil, the study of the proximity to the Sabalan volcano showed that the incidence of gastric cancer increases as it approaches the volcano. Conclusion: By identifying the distribution of the disease, it can be screened extensively and further studies are recommended to diagnose other disease characteristics.
