چکیده مقاله:

Iranian gardens are considered as an important example of landscape architecture in Iranian traditional architecture. In the different periods, architects have always tried to create a garden similar to paradise according to their beliefs, in different regions of Iran (especially in desert areas). Studies on the general structure of Persian gardens show that these gardens follow certain geometric principles. Also, most of these gardens have similar elements and design principles. This paper, using a descriptive and analytical method and reviewing library resources, introduces the principles of geometric design as well as the principles of Iranian garden design. The results show that in the design of Iranian gardens, four general geometries are often used based on the location of the palace in the garden. Also, several items including rhythm, naturalism and the use of the landscape, centralism, rectangular geometry, hierarchy, diversity in unity, unity in diversity, symmetry, wide view, conjunction, contrast and independence and recognition of spaces are considered as the principles of Iranian garden design.
