Survey on sparid family with emphasize on Sparidae of the Persian Gulf and Oman Sea

چکیده مقاله:

Sparidae family is marine fishes, rarely found in brackish and fresh water. This family consists of 38 genus and 154 species. They can be found in tropical regions, Mediterean areas, beaches and continental shelf where they live in warm currents, and many of them are hermaphrodit. Six sub-families of Sparidae were recognized including Boopsinae, Denticinae, Diplodinae, Pagellinae, Parinae and Sparinae. It becomes clear that in all investigations, they are not related to same ancestor. Currently, their fossil is categorized as Centracanthidae and includes Nasloacea from Miocen period of Estern Europe and 2 species of Spicara from Azarbaijan and Algeria. Their body shape is compressed and high and has a specific swell on eyes. Body color is light grey near to white and ventral and anal fins inclinest to white with yellow areolas. Caudal fin is light yellow with black margin and the above of operculum has a dark spot and operculum has a short spine. The maximum length is 30 cm and its fishing is possible with bottom trawl, gillnet and Gregor s trap. Their geographical distribution are in Atlantic Indian and Pacific oceans. Dorsal fin is long and usually has 10-13 spines and 10-15 soft rays. Anal fin has 3 spines and 8-14 soft rays. When the mouth is closed, the jaw is covered with pod. They have 24 vertebra.The fishing of Sparidae in the year of 2016 is reported 5864 tons and species of this family is more important from the fisheries and aquaculture aspect in countries beside to Persian Gulf and Oman Sea. Genus and species from this family that are reported in Ewatsuki books and reports of FAO in 51 ares were confirmed as 8 genus and 16 species. Sparidae members of Iran are: Acanthopagrus arabicus, Acanthopagrus sheim, Acanthopagrus berda, Acanthopagrus randalli, Acanthopagrus catenula, Acanthopagrus bifasciatus, Rhabdosargus sarba, Rhabdosargus haffara, Sparidentex hasta, Sparidentex jamalensis, Diplodus capensis, Diplodus omaniensis, Crenidens crenidens, Argyrops spinifer and Pagellus affinis, Cheimerius nufar
