3D Echo

Since 1974, when the first 3D echocardiography images of the heart were obtained 3DE technology has greatly evolved. The developments of the real time technique, along with significant advances in transducer technologies, have significantly improved the image quality and practical application of 3DE in daily clinical practice. 3DE images can be acquired from either transthoracic or transesophageal echocardiography. Overall 3D echocardiography is superior to 2D echocardiography in quantification of cardiac chambers volume and function, evaluation of cardiac valves, congenital cardiac defects and monitoring of interventional procedures.
