چکیده مقاله:

Taenia saginata is an intestinal parasite and patients harbouring adult T. saginata tapeworms are mostly asymptomatic and discharge only fecal proglottids. In some cases there might be nonspecific symptoms like anorexia, vomiting, diarrhea, epigastric pain, and neurological disorder. In the current case, we report acute epigasteric pain caused by T. saginata presenting with fever, vomiting, and nervous complications.Case present The patient is a 26-year-old man from Alborz Province with abdominal disorder, and with feeling of movement of anexternal body in his abdomen. He was somehow nervous as well. He referred to the laboratory of teaching hospital in Karaj and there was seen Taenia proglottids in his feces test. The Proglottids was stained, Taenia saginata was diagnosed. In order to treat him, the physician prescribed niclosamide. The patient completed the treatment course. After treatment course, his feces test results for Taenia were negative for two times. This report shows that Taenia saginata infection is still transmitted between intermediated host (cattle) and final host (human) in some regions of Iran. Therefore, health education should be conducted on how to prevent the disease for people at risk.
