Application of flow process for metronidazole treatment in aqueous media by electrocoagulation method

چکیده مقاله:

The use of antibiotics and growth hormones in human has a significant effect onthe quality of surface and groundwater. The relevance of an electrocoagulation (EC) process for the Experiments were carriedout in a flow electrochemical reactor using aluminum electrodes. Treatment of metronidazole was relatively slow and we tried to highlight effects of the main operating parameters such as pH, temperature, current density and flow rate at 120 min on final response. Finally the optimizing rangewas investigated at pH=7, T=15.0 °C, current density =8 mA/cm2,V=145.0 ml/min.The maximum amount of pollutant removal in optimal conditions, 36% respectively and COD removal 30% were showed.Metronidazole removal efficiency also increased when pH was increased from 4 to 7 and subsequently decreased at pH 8 to 10 but temperature have most important on pollutant treatment and this work were showed that, in middle temperature, pollutant removal have maximum efficiency and in high range it have descending trend
