A Privacy Preserving Indexing Scheme for Outsourced Data

Cloud computing offers both the data outsourcing and data management opportunities. However, sensitive data must be encrypted before being outsourced to the cloud due to various privacy concerns. Property- preserving encryption schemes allow data to be encrypted while still allowing for efficient querying over encrypted data. The intrinsic advantages of property-preserving encryption schemes make them very effective and efficient for cloud outsourcing scenarios. However, the security of such schemes is still a challenge since some information about the underlying data may leak, which compromises data privacy. In this paper, we present a new property-preserving scheme for indexing encrypted data, as an alternative to order- preserving schemes. The proposed scheme unables query procesing over encrypted data with a strictly strong notion of security. While preserving data privacy, the proposed scheme is efficient for query processing.
