چکیده مقاله:

In this paper, a new type of passive energy dissipating system similar to base isolation, which is called,A central multi short cohunn fuse.An innovative type of energy dissipating device is introduced, which consists of multi steel columns placed together and spring columns around thebuilding by a specific setting so that the whole device behaves similarly in tension and compression. The setting of central fuse is such that when the building works in earthquake vibrations some of the columns is under tension and at the same time another one is under compression. To investigate the structural behavior and energy dissipation mechanism of the proposed device, it has been analyzed nonlinearly by Abaqus v6.10 fmite element method. Numerical results show the satisfactory behavior of the proposed energy dissipater.The behavior and performance of multi-story steel buildings equipped with this system is investigated and compared with conventional earthquake-resisting steel structures such as hybrid systems with pinned supports. For this purpose, a series of ground acceleration records of the Kobe, landers, Northridge and tabs Valley earthquakes are used in a series of numerical simulations. The nonlinear numerical modeling which includes both material and geometric nonlinearities were carried out by using SAP2000 v14 program. Results show the suitable behavior of structureequipped with centra/fitse in controlling the upper stories accelerations.
