چکیده مقاله:

In course of the years 1968-1978, several houses has been designed and numbered chronologically by Eisenman underthe title of Cardboard Houses . These houses all can be counted as a pure intellectual approach to abstract formalismin architecture. That is, total disregard of functional, programmatic or any other social conventions on the side offocusing on developing architectural concept through internal logic of form. Although the Cardboard Houses as adidactic heuristic design approach has been addressed in some studies, still there is an essential call for more closeexamination of these houses regarding the manner by which internal logic of form operates as driver agent ofarchitectural concept through design process. Thus, the main objective of this paper as a qualitative documentarysturdy is close examination of the Houses II, III, IV, VI and X, namely the most instructive ones in the series with focuson the way architectural concepts in these works has been derived from internal logic of form. The demanded data hasbeen collected by literature survey, mostly texts written by architect himself, and then analyzed through analyticdescriptivemethod. The findings illustrated that Cardboard Houses can be counted as a progressive project whereineach of the houses was a unique exercise and different investigation of from evolution which is more tangled than itsprecursors. In each case certain transformational operations based on internal logic of form has been occupied fordeveloping architectural concept.
