چکیده مقاله:

Ecology and distribution of species of Broomrape of Orobanche ,Diphelypaea and Cistanche (Orobanchaceae) in Iraq were studied. Several Scientific trips to various places of Iraq 2016-2017 were curried out. Specimens were identified and deposited in Basrah University Herbarium (BSRA). Seven species of Broomrape belong to Orobanche, namely, O. anatolica, O. camptolepis, O. caryophyllacea, O. cernua, O. crenata, O. kurdica and O. minor, one species of Diphelypaea (D. boissieri) and one species of Cistanche (C. tubulosa) were recognized. The results showed that O. cernua is a widespread species occur in 9 district followed by O. anatolica and C. tubulosa each of that occur in 3 district, while the most restricted species were D. boissieri and O. minor each of which distributed in only one district. Cistanche tubulosa showed the highest abundance and density and distributed widely in a large area in the southern Desert District (DSD). Also the results indicated that Sulaimanya District (MSU) is the richest in number of species, with 7 species followed by Amadia District (MAM) with 5 species followed by Rowanduz, Sinjar and Southern Desert districts with four species for each. O. cernua distributed in various kinds of soils and environment, it grows in mountains, foothills and desert environment, while D. boissieri occur only in one place grown on brown soil on Peramagron mountain where parasitized on Cousinia haussknechii which considered a new host for this species recorded for the first time here.
