چکیده مقاله:

Mercury levels and other elements present with its in amalgams new and old were measured in some samples restorations. Differences in the new and old group mercury levels were statistically significant in the group with amalgams, but not in the group without amalgams. Analysis of the data from the indicated that little or no exogenous exposure to mercury occurred among the two groups. mercury concentrations were positively correlated with the number and surface area of amalgam restorations and were significantly lower in the group new dental amalgams .The extraction conditions were also optimized. The highest efficiency was observed when 1.0 mL of a solution containing 5.0% triton X-114 and 10% v/v HNO3were employed for the extraction of Hg contained in 10 mL of sample. Emulsion breaking was performed by heating at 70 °C and took approximately 20 min. The limit of quantification of the method was 1.4 µg L−1 and recovery percentages between 87% and 102% were observed when spiked samples (3 and 10 µg L−1) of its samples.
