Antibacterial Finishing Investigation of Cotton Fabric by Salvia Officinalis

Antibacterial finishing of textiles with natural material is one of the major subjects faced in the fieldof heal the care and hygiene textiles. In this study the ethanol extracts of salvia officinalis leaf were obtainand treated on the cotton plain woven fabric. The fabrics were tested for its antibacterial activity againstbacterial strains like staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus) and Escherichia coli (E.coli). Results showed thatantibacterial activity of cotton fabric finishing via salvia officinalis against S. aureus is much more thanE.coli.
